学年トップになりました。
ネイティブの英語に触れ、英語に対する関心が一気にふくらみ、
スクールに来て一年、底辺だった成績が学年トップになりました。
そして、スピーチコンテストでも優勝という快挙です。
彼のスピーチコンテストの内容をご紹介いたします。

hello everybody. My name is Hiroki Mikami. I was born in Japan, and I grew up in Japan. I'm perfectly, 100% Japanese.
I started learning English when I first came to this junior high school. at the time, my English was not really great. Actually it was really bad!! However, I didn't hate English or anything. I liked English and I liked the culture. I thought that If I learn English then I can talk with people around the world, and I can learn a lot of information. So, I began to learn conversions about 1 year ago.
One day I was at a ski area in Nigata and I heard something that surprised me. It was English!! I looked around and I found two international people next to me. This was my chance to actually speak English, but when I went over to speak to them nothing came out!! I was frozen with fear. I thought, "what if I make a mistake? What If i don't understand them? What if I something goes wrong in my mind?" I started thinking about what I would say, replaying the exact phrases in my mind over and over again, and then, before I realized it, they were gone. I missed my chance. The problem was that I was afraid of making a mistake. but If I had known how to overcome those problems I could have talked to them easily. So I decided I won't give up studying English, and I'll just keep going.
I want everyone to learn English. Don't be afraid of making mistakes!!

英語をこれから勉強する生徒さんに向け、彼からのメッセージです。
私は中学生になってから英語を勉強し始めました。
中学2年の終わり頃までは全く興味も無く授業の一部として勉強していました。
しかし、中学2年の終わり頃に英語が話せたら、世界中の人と話せると漠然と思い始めました。
初めて英会話スクールに来た時は、年齢を聞かれただけで緊張してしまい、まともに答えられませんでした。
その時私はとても悔しくて、なぜ文に書いてあれば理解できるのに、英語を話そうとすると出来ないのだろうと思い、
そこから毎日英語で物事を考える事を始めました。
そして思春期の今こそ沢山の事を吸収しやすいと思い、
外国人に積極的に話しかけることをしました。
話してて分からない事はネットで調べたり先、生に聞いたりして分からない所を一つ一つ潰していきました。
海外に行った時に自分の英語が理解してもらえて、英語を勉強してなければ絶対に喋れなかった人達と話せる事が、
とても素晴らしいことだと実感しました。
今では英語を話す事が趣味になりました。
日本語アクセントの英語を捨てない限り、ネイティヴの英語は聞けず、伝えられる英語にはならないと思っています。
ネイティヴの発音を聞いてから自分の発音を聞いて、自分とネイティヴは何が違うんだと考えて何回も練習をしています。
英語を勉強する事で、価値観が広がり人生が変わりました。
たくさんの人に英語を勉強してほしいです！
